Remembering The Fire

November 2 @ 11:00 am 12:15 pm

Rev. Veronica Silva

Today, we’re exploring the final chapters of Mark Nepo’s More Together Than Alone. These chapters are a culmination of Nepo’s reflections on community, compassion, and the spiritual journey toward belonging. He invites us to consider not just how we live, but how we live together—especially in times of adversity. His message is clear: we are more together than alone, and the way we care for each other defines the world we create. Nepo begins with the metaphor of a road leading to a temple—a sacred place of connection. This road represents the journey each of us must take to reach a deeper sense of community. It’s not a physical path, but a spiritual one, paved with listening, vulnerability, and courage. He reminds us that every culture has faced the choice between fear and love, isolation and connection. The temple is not a destination—it’s a way of being. It’s the place we arrive at when we choose to trust, to share, and to be present with one another.
